This is the first time I have heard of this. Whay does having a criminal record have to do with getting motorcycle insurance? The two just don't equate.

a criminal record has nothing to do with a driving record. Try Rider insurance. They only insure motorcycles.

As long as the criminal record does not include insurance fraud, then several places will offer cover. Try Google search on "Bikes Direct", "Carol Nash", and "Motorcycles Direct". If the rider's record does have insurance fraud on it, forget about insurance, it won't happen!
