Because, presumably, you've gone to the beach to 'experience' (in whatever way) the sea. Therefore, the sea is the central part of the experience and you'd only naturally want to look at it. Especially if you don't live by the sea - then it becomes a novelty. If you wanted to look at the countryside then you would go to the countryside.

Because that's the whole point of going to a beach! If not for a view of the sea, why not just get yourself two bags of sands and make a sandpit in your back yard?

That is why we go to the beach in the first place, to sit facing the wind and watch the waves crash again the sandy beaches.

If I had wanted to sit and stare at a parking lot or road, I could have parked my happy *** out on the curb in front of my house and saved myself a 2 hour drive to get to the beach!

It's beautiful, whether it's smooth and serene, or wild with waves crashing dramatically on the beach. It's also unpredictable so best to keep an eye on it just in case!
