What do you see as the solution to the conflict between the West and radical Islam?

I WANT opposing opinions. Is further military conflict inevitable? Or can we all just get along? Will the "Islamic Extremists" let us. Can there ever be a peace between us? The only snag is, qualify your answer. Back it up, don't just regurgitate what you heard on some news / talk show somewhere. Also, actors or entertainers don't really qualify as reliable sources for political commentary, so if you get your views from MTV or E!, don't bother.

C'mon guys, give me a little more here. Answer the whole question.

Peace@iran-Thank you for your response. Ineteresting to hear from someone from your perspective. I hope that we can acheive peace between the West and Islam, I do not personally believe we are past the point of no return.

The people who answered before me are right. The solution is the dismantling of radical Islam. How to go about this is the real question.
According to the Daily Telegraph survey (a mainstream, slightly conservative UK broadsheet) 33% of British Muslims questioned believe that "Western society is decadent and immoral and that Muslims should seek to bring it to an end".
Clearly radical Islam permeates throughout Muslim communities and is not just confined to the likes of Afghanistan or Iran.
Even more tellingly, the attitudes of British Muslims have shifted away from support for western values since the US invasion of Iraq.
The solution therefore must tackle both domestic Muslims and those in Arab countries. What exactly is entailed is anybody's guess.

The only solution is making Iran, Syria and Saudia Arabia testing grounds for our large array of nuclear weapons. Islam is a spiritual shell game that guarantees immortality to anyone that kills Christian or Jewish people. Once you have experienced anything spiritual, and therefore understand the smallest grain of sand near what spirituallity is, you learn that you can not reason with the position taken by Islam. It is impossible to "bargain" and compromise with someone who believes their immortality is at their fingertips.

So, Islam is not available for negotiation. In addition, their goals are the complete destruction of the planet - again, an action that will bring forth their own immortality. Hence, they are "non-negotiable", and committed to their cause without compromise. Because of this, the only way to resolve the conflict is to a)destroy them or b)completely eliminate their power to do harm.

Does any sane person think that option b) is possible?

Its time we see if all our ICBMs can actually hit something within a 3 yard radius.

There is no better solution than "cleaning house". Trouble-makers exist everywhere and, if left alone or uncontrolled, they will eventually pull the more sane and more responsible into a war that gets many people killed.

I would suggest that it is now time for the responsible Islamic people to uncover and tame the radical elements in their flock.

First you should know sth. By the freedom in this world each person can have his own beliefs. His religion and beliefs is respective and other people can't abuse it. But you have not obeyed this. Newspapers published cartoons of our prophet. By this action you shouldn't expect muslims to stay calm. So the first thing is respecting each other. Second thing is believing that Bin Laden and his alikes aren't true muslims. I'm sure that there is lots of muslim people who are serving mankind. Why don't you investigate about the real islam? Yes. Iagree with you Bin Laden and his radical islam is trouble. For both of us. He caused the wrong mind that you got about us. Yes. He and his alike are problems for our peace and should be omited. The other thing is your government. They are bothering and making pressur on muslims around the world. They are making nuks but they are stoping us of having nuclear energy in a peaceful way. They are calling agroup that is defending it's own country a terrorist group. They are hiding the facts. I'm sure people who have died during the war between Israel and Palestine are as more as the jews who killed by hitler or even more than them. I believe that mainstream muslims will eventually get tired of the radicals and reject them. The majority of muslims already want to live a lifestyle similar to westerners and radical islamicsts are holding them back

Those two Fox guys had it right if we would submit ourselves to becoming muslim they wouldn't have a problem with us. Unless for some crazy reason you want to live under Shia law, we are going to have to fight them.
