it can be empowering for some women, a way to make money and, in some (admittedly few) cases it can also be a step to celeb status.
some women are forced into glamour modelling (ie soft & hard core porn) so it can be degrading.
Is it degrading for women as a whole?
No, I dont think so. most men can make the distinction between a model and a 'real' woman... the men that *can't* make that distinction have always been present in society, and I dont think that the presence or absence of glamour shots would make any difference to them
I wonder if princess (see answer below) ever wears low cut blouses/ hi cut skirts - or does she wear a Hijab? after all, she wouldn't want anyone seeing her figure - that may be 'disempowering' for her

It's degrading. It promotes women as pieces of meat who are only there to "serve" men by playing on their pathetic fantasies. It doesn't represent the reality of today's women so why ever should it be empowering? There are better ways to make a lot of money - women also have the brains and intelligence option and not just their bodies.

How can taking your clothes off so men you wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole can w**k over you be empowering?! I've never understood that. If they crave male approval that much, then that's up to them, but don't dress it up as liberation.
These models are letting the general population decide how sexually desirable they are by how many copies of magazines they can sell to randy men- What's really empowering is not giving a damn how many strangers want to look at your breasts, and saving your naked body for the pleasure of those you choose to give it to.

It can be degrading to women but it is definately an empowring way to make money.. Gosh, i have an example... hehehe
I made an add for ikea....gosh... it was hell.. Well paid for the time. But i had to be nude and so was the male i had to stand by. It was an advertisement for SOFAS...yes sofas... I am a black gurl and he is a white guy.. Pic was to be plack and white...hehehe.. lol.. part of the concept. which also includes, *sofa for ever *** size, shape and colour*
Dats right.. Basicaly, they took pictures of our bottoms and hanged it all over the city, public places...u know, like billboards and trailors and stuff...for two WEEKS..Dzyaaaaammmmmm!!!
That got the newspapers and tv stations talking for two weeks as well... Huff, and i was embarassed as hell.. Gosh, it is ma *** they will be having in the news for discussions..although my head did not show, it was messup up as hell.. Looking at the som breakfast shows and they will be talking about asses and i was part of that. But then i got paid well.. cannot complain..

Both, though I'm not sure about "empowering". It's a personal choice, no-one should be rude about someone just because they make their living that way. I do appreciate that there is a downside for both the model and society. But on the other hand, I love looking at beautiful naked women.
What to think? I dunno. Status quo is fine for me, though I do steer clear of the gynaecology shots (why is that sexy?)

a great way to make money i wish i was a girl it sure beats working in a call centre !!! plus the pix would be better to look at over the years than the usual ones of standing outside a dodgy building or on a beach !!!

A great way to make money, good luck to all the girls that have got the bodies to do it! I dont think its easy work, but they deserve every penny! I'd like the confidence to get out there and do that.

definately a way to make money but i would think a lot of stress trying to keep up with other models.
