Hi mini prophet,
With the penchant for home improvement programmes on TV nowadays, little tea-light candles are cool if you just want to see where you're going in a room, and a table lamp to read by.
Other rooms I just turn on and off as I go. Gives any potential house-breakers something to think about, too.

ALWAYS!!! I am a firm believer that if everyone does their little bit, we can save this planet so our great-grandchildren have a future.
I also compost, recycle (I am obsessive over recycling - cause of many arguments between me and my bf - i.e: "So is this choc bar wrapper NOT PLASTIC now, honey??") And I do any other thing I can to do my bit.
About the bulbs - if you are only going out for literally a few minutes, leave them on, but if you will be longer, turn them off. The burst of energy used turning them on can cancel out the energy used leaving them on if it is only for a short time.
Glad you are interested, I wish there were more of us!!!

Yeah, I found out it saves money and the environment in the long run. They don't get as hot as incadescent light bulbs, too. Of course, it's not for everywhere. I go for more brighter and softer flourescent lighting at my desk and where I like to read.
I think they're making them more powerful and brighter, so it's a good thing.
If I leave the room for a short while, I just leave them on.

I've got a couple in the house. All fine and good except they seem to take an hour to come to full brightness!

Sja, and I hardly ever turn on the lights.
So why are my bills from the electricity company still that high?
