I just got a couple of livebearer fish yesterday and aimmediately put what looks like a very pregnant female in a breeding net. This morning...still no signs of babies. She is a livebearer, bright yellow, and looks like a big molly...what is this type of livebearer fish called? How long should i leave her in the breeding net because i don't want to stress her out? (the net is pretty big) and also, i dont see a very visible gravid spot on her but she is, on the other hand, eXtremely fat and was the fatest out all the fish in that aquarium i chose her from....so she is pregnant right?

Sounds like a platy or a molly. Keep in mind they do breed what are called Balloon Platy's and Mollies, which look extraordinarily fat, but aren't pregnant. If she doesn't give birth soon, I say let her out of the net. She'll need room and filtration, which is difficult in a breeder net.

Unless you have a plan for the fry, I would suggest just letting her have them in the main tank then scooping out any fry you see and putting them in the net, if you are lucky enough to see her dropping the fry you could put her in the net then. I don't think the stress of putting them in a breeder net is fair, especially as it is hard to tell when any fish other then guppies are going to drop their fry.

seems like you got a balloon molly. They are generally very fat and may look like pregnant when actually they are not. Remove from breeding net.

Could be a swordtail or a platy, although they are usually more orange than yellow. Being fat doesn't always mean pregnant. She could have dropsy. If she is pregnant, I see no harm in leaving her in the net until she gives birth.

sounds like it may be a balloon molly..they have very large stomachs and it looks like they are either very pregnant or there is a small balloon in their stomach because it is so big lol..i may be wrong tho so leave her in the breeder net for another week or two and see what happens

i think of you're able to pass with some mollies on account that they're fairly hardy, yet you're able to desire to maintain it 2 women human beings or greater to a million male ratio using fact the adult males will harass the ladies human beings. this may lead directly to rigidity which finally ends up in illnesses which finally finally ends up in dying. you could attempt swordtails in case you like, I observed some in petco and their swords are like 4 inches long. yet they look swimming diagonal probable using fact their tail is so heavy for them to swim typical. you could decide for platy too yet keep the ratio balanced. sturdy success with your aquarium!
