Of course it is womens rights - plus there are more reasons than health problems; what if she were raped and the pregnancy was as a result? Or if she was in an abusive relationship and did not want to bring a child into such a situation if she herself was unable to get out of it.
It is a womans choice; and whilst I don't agree with abortion being used in cases where a woman has had a foolish one-night stand, or can't afford to have the child (adoption is always an option) I think to take this right away from women is not a good idea.

Exactly. That baby has a right to life as well. If you were raped (or if your or the baby's life is in danger,) then I say that yes, you should have a choice, but if you have waited more than three months, then go through with the pregnancy and if you still do not want the child give it to an adoption agency-- there are so many women out there unable to have children. But if the woman is waiting til the very end then no, it is no longer an abortion but murder. Sigh, it is such a sticky issue, and everyone has an opinion. This is mine.
Side note: on the whole severe health issues debate..... a friend of mine, Johnny, who is now 26yrs old, has spina bifida, a terrible, crippling disease that has left him wheelchair bound (he has never been able to walk), he has been through numerous surgeries and has many health problems. In the month before his birth, the drs wanted to terminate his pregancy and force his mother into an abortion.... she said no, that this was going to be her son, and she would raise him and love him no matter what his medical problems were. And though he does have all of these problems, he is one of the most amazing men I have ever met. He just recently graduated with his Bachelor's degree in marketing and communication, he is working at an internship for a radio station. He has a wonderful fiancee (I can't til they get married next year), and he has a wonderfully strong sense of faith and love.

i think it is a womans right, i know a few people who have had abortions. say because they were in a relationship which they thought was a dead cert and when they found out they were pregnant the bloke bailed. i dont think that some people are mentally able to cope with pregnancy and having a child.
i think that the stage of pregnancy you can have an abortion up until is too late - i cant quite remember exactly but isnt it something lke 20 weeks or 24 weeks?
my cousin was premature and born 5 1/2 months into the pregnancy. i think if youre going to have an abortion it should be early on in the pregnancy
accidents can happen, and its a womans right to choose whether they continue and can cope with a pregnancy, but i DO NOT think that abortions should be used as a type of contraception as some women do.

In a word - NO!!!!
The woman had a choice on becoming pregnant or not (Ok there maybe times when this is not so).
What choice does the baby get?
What choice does the father have?
Why should the baby be killed?
Who can be sure of the disabilities?
Whose to say the disabled child dose not enjoy it's life how ever short it is?
Who can say that you won't live with the guilt & regret for the rest of your life?
Who can say that you won't settle down with the right guy & then find out you are infertile because of your previous choice to abort?
If you are blessed with a child, you should cherish that baby with all your heart. They are gifts.
Before you ask, no I am not a religious nutter, I just think abortion is totally wrong for ALL circumstances.

I think that in extreme cases such as rape, it would be the woman's right even though i do not think abortion is right under any circumstances. I am aware the many women would not be emotionally stable to carry a 'rape' baby, but i think that children, however they are conceived or whatever may be medically wrong with them are a gift from God and no one (woman or man) should decide if that child has the right to live or not.
If a woman has unprotected sex then she HAS to accept the consequences that comes along with it, good or bad. Also remember that a woman alone cannot conceive so surely the babys father should have a say.

Yes it is a woman's right. There are many reasons to get an abortion other than severe health problems. The issue is when people use it as a form of regular birth control. This is abuse of the right. It is unhealthy and it is really hard on the woman's body and mind. But if a woman makes the decision, the very difficult decision, that it is what needs to be done, then it is her righ to do so.

I think that if a woman does not feel able to cope with pregnancy and birth then she should be allowed an abortion.
I am not anti-abortion or do I beleive it is "murder". Its funny that so many anti-abortionists also support the death penalty!!
I'm having my first baby (26 weeks) and I love my baby so much, but pregnancy is really hard. I have struggled so much with the sickness, tiredness etc. I am terrified of labour. I can only get through it because I have a supportive partner and family. The idea of a terrified 14 year old rape victim being put through all this and forced to give birth to her rapist's child is just barbaric and disgusting!
Women have been having abortions for thousands of years, long before it was ever a legal medical procedure. They will carry on having them - either doing themselves or going to back street abortionists (which can result in serious illness and death).
Making it illegal will not stop it, just result in a lot of pain and danger for scared young girls. Very heartless.

It is every single womans right to choose to keep a baby or have an abortion, It is inside her body and no one elses. I am a christian but I dont have to force what I believe on other people. Abortion isn't wrong, forcing your point of view on somebody is. I am 22 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child right now and I considered not keeping this baby, why? because my husband is in the marines and we are under alot of hardship right now. People say there is always adoption, and do you know how many kids end up not being adopted, and have no real family all their life?.
What happened to the land of the free? Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness anybody?? Stop forcing what you believe on others they might just force something back on you.

I think a women has the right to say what happens to her body and no celebate men who have no wives or daughters of their own (i.e. the Catholic clergy & Pope) have the right to tell her what to do with her body.
Abortion is a sad thing and is not to be encouraged, proper birth control should be freely available and encouraged, but it should be available to any woman who feels that she doesn't want to go through with having a baby.
Having a baby is a very big deal and it should only be done by people who want the baby and can raise it well. Unwanted children ruin their mother's lives and are usually miserable themselves.

I had a friend who had a child that was five months gestation. He had an open spine, his brain was being pushed forward and he had severe arthritis (yes, an unborn child). She had a theraputic abortion where they injected barbituates and then she delivered him. They named him Alan and took photos.
Now on the other hand with so many forms of birth control out there and being able to say no any woman who is stupid enough to end up with an unwanted pregnancy really has no one to blame but herself. I ask you, should the child have to pay for that mistake?
These are the women who say they don't have time, they want to party, yada yada me me me. Fine then don't keep the child and a child it is just look at a 6 week embryo.
But adoption!!! Oh no they couldn't possibly do the right thing and give the child up! That would be wrong wouldn't it?
Abortion, selfish and uncaring.
Sure your body, your life, but it isn't your body being torn apart or sucked apart or burned now is it?
