NO ONE is worth $252 million, especially A-Rod. He isn't worth it. He isn't the player he is hyped out to be. He isn't a great player and he isn't a great leader. He doesn't make the Yankees a better team and he didn't make the Rangers a better team when he signed the initial contract.

well for the rangers, yea i agree, A-rod is not really worth 25million. Some one who contributes on and off the field, and is a pr dream, might well be.. (someone who fills out a stadium by themselves, marketing etc etc)

For the yankees, who only pay him 19million or something of the 25million a year, thats a reasonable buy, considering his contribution on the field and his consistency.

If new york people could just shut up for half a minute, that would be reasonable too.

Though, for the price of A-Rod, you could get the florida marlins, and then a good role player aswell, mabye a nice car.. i don't know.

Not knowing a lot about the history of baseball, but i would think there are easily worse buys in baseball than A-rod. Chen ho Park or something? A J Burnett 5 years at 55 million is a pretty bad buy. Really the only good thing about that deal was it let the jays fans and the community know they are willing to spend money to make the team better.

Personally, I don't think ANY sports player is worth that amount of money. I don't know why Alex Rodriguez is struggling this season, and I'm not sure that anyone else could produce an accurate answer. What I do know is that the Yankees successfully converted an MVP-calibur shortstop into an MVP-calibur third-baseman, and it's only a matter of time before A-Rod feels comfortable playing in New York again.

CARL PAVANO is a waste of money, not Alex Rodriguez.

i disagree completely, he is far from being the worst buy ever in baseball. it's sad that people who consider themselves yankees fan have the audacity to boo him on and off the field because he's having a tough season. what's even sadder is that if you stopped and looked at his numbers even for his worst season so far in his career, you'll see that he will finish with over 100 RBIs and 30 HRs which is still better than 90% of the league!! not to mention if you looked at fielding percentages (not this season, but every other season he's ever played) you'll see that defensively he is much better at short stop than Derek Jeter.
I think that these so called Yankees' fans really messed with A-Rod's head, a huge part of the game is the concentration and the belief in one self, and its clear that A-Rod has lost of his confidence because of the constant criticism he faces. Even when he was MVP last year people were criticizing him. unbelievable.

waste of money? hell no.
everyone have bad years and good years..A-rod just having a bad year that's all! I'm sure he'll step up and show ya people what he really are, even he struggles,he still put mad numbers on RBIs. He's trying hard to contribute all he can and the best he can to help his team to win. u can't say he's a waste of money!!! I luv A-rod, he's da man!!! YANKEE FAN FOR LIFE!!!

I guess it's what have you done for me today?
Last year he was the MVP of the AL and his numbers were very impressive. This year he's had his problems but his numbers aren't all that bad. It's unfortunate for him that he makes that kind of money and plays in the biggest Baseball market in the country. Everyone expects a home run or spectacular play every at bat or every play.
Regardless, hes a keeper and I am glad he's on my team.

negative it's way over your head u better believe they don't want
to trade him off don't u think they said the some about Soriano and look at him now u don't get rid of your bambinoes either like Boston once thought incredible short stop and one the best third basemen too we all go through slumps but don't be fooled look at big picture who's on their way to the play offs? if the damn baseball commission had not ruled the Yankees to compensate
financially other teams maybe the yanks would not be in debt

Overpaid? Certainly. But still a great talent. He is having a down year by "A-Rod" standars. 98% of other players would kill to have his numbers right now. If he shows up in the post-season, everyone will magically forget his struggles this year.
