These days mobile phone is the most common source of communication. Sometimes calling is costlier and people find it more convenient to talk thru sms. Internet is again proving helpful in sending sms to the desired and required destination of the person’s choice. Some websites charge price and some do not. But why to buy when something is available free?!!

Most cell phone service providers allow you send to their customers from their website for free, however, your friends still have to pay for incoming SMS ...

personally, if I have to pay for your message, you wont be my friend for long if i get "wuz ^" from you at 10 cents per message. ... a word to the wise, this expense mounts up fast ... if you dont have something pertinent to say, shut up or just call me, its cheaper.

I'm interested to see if there are any answers to this. Years ago there used to be but I dont think there are any left. SMS has really taken off.
I think Lycos have a service but you have to register.
