Okay I am 22 years old & I have never had a pap smear. I am scared to get one. I have had appointments to go but cancelled at the last minute. One time I drove all the way to the hospital to get one, but was so afraid to go inside. I started crying. I cry when I think about it. I am just so afraid to get one. I want to be healthy in the future. I am still a virgin. Im just scared I don't know how to face this problem.

Go get your pap smear!! there is nothing to it. The doctor is usually very understanding that you are nervous. If it is a male doctor then a female will be present in the exam room. It doesnt take very long. Because you havent had one you will also need a breast examination. The doctors and his assistants are very professional and caring. GO NOW!! If you need to take a family member or a friend who you would feel comfortable in the room with you. As for mothers out there. I took my daughter to mine ever since she was born, she is now 12 and has no fear of the exam.

I think every woman who's had a pap, can comiserate with you about this. Getting your first pap can be a very scary experience.
I would say, take a friend, or your mom to the appointment with you. If your doctor is a man, there will be a nurse in the room with you at all times. She'll even hold your hand if you want. You can also take your mom or a friend in with you as well. The doctor will examine you, but don't be emabrassed about it he/she does this for a living, and not for kicks...becuase there are none.
As about being a virgin, don't worry, I was too at 21 when I had my first pap. There will be no judgement of your sexual status, so don't feel embarassed. Getting a pap is part of being a healthy woman.

I have had more PAPS than manicures,lol.. What are you afraid of? It is okay. It is great you are a virgin, but you do need to keep an eye on your body. So, if you are still afraid to go, have your best friend, mom, Aunt or someone you trust to go with you. They do not hurt. And if you tell the Doctor you are a virgin, I know he/she will talk to you all the way through it, letting you know what to expect. The worst thing is the paper gowns.. All will be fine. Just do it, get it over with,, and then you can look back and think,"what was I so afraid of" Best Wishes

TAKE A FRIEND WITH YOU....they dont have to actually look at you but they can sit near your head and talk to you to keep you calm, maybe you could take a friend that needs to get a pap smear too!

Honey, go get one!!!!!!!!!!!! Its very important to have an annual pap smear, its horrible sounding, once you get there its not all that bad! A little embarrassing but they see hoo hoos everyday. Its really not a big deal at all. Please go get one, think of how much better youd feel after its over.

to tell you frankly,u dont have to be scared of pap smear, because it feels good, and also if your still a virgin,i dont think u need to have your pap smear,because its only for girls thats having sexual relationship with his hers partner,and just want to be sure that they are clean all the time.,and also,any feminine wash will already do for you.

Do not be afraid, go and get checked, it will not harm your hyman. It is more embarrassing than it is painful. Take care of yourself!
