Pride. This country isn't perfect, but no country is, and I am very proud to be British, despite the faults. I feel the same way about the St George cross as I am also proud to be English.
We seem to live in time when hating your own country is considered cool, just looking through the answers so far that comes across - I think that is really sad. How about working to make this a greater nation, instead of just whingeing and being negative all the time.

I think of home, because I do not live in England any more. Sometimes I miss it terribly, especially when I see things like the Union Jack, or English (not American ugh) films of TV with sights of London. When I hear an English accent.
England is a GREAT country, please let's keep it that way with the English traditions and religion. Let's not forget that WE ARE BRITISH!

BNP, Fascists , shaven headed druken football nutters!
Lager louts!and above all England as opposed to Britian or any union!
I do not wish to be associated with England!
So my first emotion is sickness and shame that the rest of us have to be associated with the English!

Not much emotion when I see the flag, but images of geri halliwell, drunk topless football fans with it wrapped round their skinny bodies and the BNP pop into mind.
Shame really, I'm sure thats not what they envisioned when they designed it.
I am glad I am British but the union flag doesnt symbolise it for me.

The urge to escape to the countryside!
Seeing the union jack normally means that it's either a 'royal occasion' or there's football on, both of which I fekkin hate, so it aint a good feeling!

I once caught a glimpse of a girls Union Jack panties. On this occasion I felt a flush of excitement and a little bit of guilt.

Mate, its the Union Flag. The 'Jack' is a naval standard, only the navy use the Jack.
That point aside, i see my countries flag and feel a mix of shame and pride. Proud that our country still stands for what it believes in, ashamed at our past

Don't have any emotions when seeing it. It's only a poksy flag! But seeing the flag in certain situations makes me happy. ie, when the flag is raised behind some athelete or sportsman or woman.

Initially, pride, then pity. I left the UK 3 years ago and I did miss it at first. Now I watch Sky news before I go to work and I think the country is going to the dog´s. I would be so frustrated if I lived there now. Too many do gooders and mam by pamby left wingers for my liking. Good luck to all who sail in her.
