Having 15en years experience with computers and computer science I can surely say there is no such thing as "best company". Every company produces certain models and there are many factors you should consider. Start by checking the kind of software we want to use, the kind of daily use you expect from your PC and then try discovering a model that would do the common tasks. There is no reason to buy the latest model with thousands of features when you may only need a good solid PC for running MS Office. I believe that a typical Intel Pentium PC around 800USD does the job regardless of the brand name.

Don't know what is best but from experience stick with HP. Had a Dell nothing put problems, have a friend who had a compaq and wanted to pull her hair out. Gateway is having some problems, going down on the stock market. I have had my HP for a year and have have needed technical support only once, and it was because of something stupid that i did.

I've had a couple of different brands. I now have a Dell and I love it..you can order what ever your need online- it's at your front door in 2 days, you can call them up anytime and get help, or just ask a question. It's deffinitly made things easier, and their not too expensive.

Our family just has laptops, so...

My brother says you can't go wrong with a HP (Hewlett Packard). My friend loves her Mac b/c no need to worry about viruses.
