Who cares what the Vatican likes or dislikes. It's the capital of the biggest cult in the world.

The biggest reason that Freemasonry has been outlawed by the Vatican until recently is that it was formed in Protestant England and, in many ways, furthered English aims during the 16th and 17th centuries. During that time period, England was the main Protestant thorn in the Vatican's side and so any organization that was so intimately linked with the crown of England (including among its members several English monarchs) had to be "evil". And the previous answer that says freemasonry was Protestant is wrong. Freemasonry was founded in Scotland, which was CATHOLIC at the time. Freemasonry, although associated with Protestant England, was always strongly BOTH Catholic and Protestant in England. That is what made it so dangerous to the Vatican--it gave Protestants equal footing with Catholics. Masonry is not involved in any plots to take over the world, nor is it anything like what Dan Brown wrote about in The Da Vinci Code (which is a work of COMPLETE fiction).
EDIT: Pita is completely wrong in his assessment of the origin of Freemasonry. It did NOT originate with "Jews of the Holy Land". Freemasonry originated with Catholics and Protestants in England.

The Vatican is the place of Catholics which is the biggest sect in Christianity, and had huge powers in the past and many today. In order tp join Freemasons to that it is impossible since they are not tied to a religion and are said to originate from Jews of the Holy Land ( no proof given just words ). I do not like the use of the word HATE since this is Power and Politics to control destinies of the world.and the Freemasons are part of it world wide, and the Vatican cannot associate with societies that does not have clear religious thoughts.

I didn't realize they hated Freemasons, but I guess it makes sense. Freemasons are not Catholic and not subject to the Vatican's control and the Vatican historically wouldn't like them.
Freemasons historically draw their origins from Anglicans, the Knights Templar were French and are not the source of the Freemasons. Knight Templar was the role model for World Bank.

I would say it is probably to do with the Knights Templar and the secrets to do wih the descendants of Jesus. If i remember rightly the conspiricy is that the Freemasons originated from the Knights Templar, the Knights Templar being the guardians of the Holy Grail. It is said that the Holy Grail is in fact the blood line of Jesus and that there are living descendants walking on earth to this day. This would have a massive and profound impact on the Catholic church as it currently stands. This was all recently famously put in writing in "The Da Vinci Code", but this is by no means not the only exaqmple of this theory being put in writing. Over the centuries a massive amount of research has been done on the subject and written about by hundreds of people, it is no more theory or fact than the bible and depends a great deal on what people believe to be the truth. However, being as the Vatican is the seat of power in the Catholic Church, it is understandable that they would be, at the least wary, if not hateful of the Freemasons and the history and secracy surrounding them.

The Vatican doesn't really hate freemasonry.
Both the Vatican and the Freemasons form a part of the elite which runs the planet. They are in league together.
