Well in one way you cant its god choice> But i have heard that it could depend on what you eat but in any way you should be happy with what ever sex child you get we are having our second we wanted a boy but if we get a girl we will be happy with that if we could all choose what sex baby we had this world would have more of one sex than another. But look up foods i think that's what they say can determine the sex also the father has the stronger cell which decides the sex any way so look in the family history.

g'day Bob Jora,

Thanks for your question.

Most people are happy to leave it to nature. However, you can have preimplantation genetic diagnosis. n medicine and (clinical) genetics preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a considered as a very early form of prenatal diagnosis that consists of the performance of a genetic test on oocytes prior to fertilization or embryos before they are implanted in the uterus. Its main advantage is that it avoids selective pregnancy termination as the method ensures a pregnancy free of the disease under consideration. PGD thus is an adjunct to assisted reproductive technology, and requires in vitro fertilization (IVF) to obtain oocytes or embryos for evaluation.

In 1967, Robert Edwards and David Gardner reported the successful sexing of rabbit blastocysts, setting the first steps towards PGD (Edwards and Gardner, 1967). It was not until the 1980s that human IVF was fully developed, which coincided with the breakthrough of the highly sensitive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. Handyside and collaborators reported the first births of PGD children in 1992 (Handyside et al., 1992) though the preliminary experiments had been published some years earlier (Coutelle et al., 1989; Holding and Monk, 1989; Handyside et al., 1990).

In these first cases, PCR was used for the gender determination for patients carrying X-linked diseases. It is also possible for y chromosome linked diseases such as Duchenne's muscular difference. However it is often considered to be unethical for selecting gender.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards
