the voice of the brisitsh people (86%) have said No to the above!!! why are the people of britain being listend to?

i appreciate that only 4000 people have taken part in this poll but given that most stats are derived from less i think we can argue that this is reasonably accurate

No country should have an 'open door' policy. This just leaves it open to abuse!! There are enough illegal immigrants in this country as it is!!
We should have the same immigration policy as U.S & Australia. If they want to live in the U.K. they must fill certain criteria. They should have sorced employment & accomodation. They should not be allowed to claim any benefits for at least 5yrs & should pay for health care, as they have made no contributions to any of these services. They should also want to come over here for the right reasons, not just to ponce off our welfare state!!
I think us tax payers have had enough of this nanny goverment & their namby pamby policies. JUST SAY NO!!! Why should we care if we offend other EU goverments, if we choose to place conditions on people entering this country, then so be it!!!
It's time this goverment & it's people take a stand!!!
We are after all only an island, & a small one at that!!

NO because the UK is a group of Islands the biggest being a thousand miles long and as of now the population is around 7 million. the social service are virtually on melt down i.e the National health service, and only exist because of tax payers. so an open door policy has to stop unless these people can support them selves. which they seem unable to do

most immigrants just want to work to send money back to their families. We don't have an 'open door' policy on all immigrants either, its only because these countries have joined the EU and one of the conditions of membership is that there is free travel within the EU countries - we are free to travel to Poland etc. Our government chose to give these immigrants full work rights to plug a productivity and skills gap and to address the ageing population. I read that Scotland will decline in population by 200,000 (the population of Dundee) by 2015 if we don't take in at least 9,000 immigrants per year, because of the ageing generation. If these people can make a better living here and can contribute to our economy I see no reason for them not to be here. We all want the same thing for ourselves and our families. Oh and the guy who was on about council tax going up and pension contributions - your local authority sets council tax and uses it for schools, roads, lighting, social work etc. Your penson comes from inland revenue which is set centrally by the government. Those in low paid jobs do contribute to the tax system because they allow businesses to prosper and pay corporation tax, business rates, income tax (on the fat cats at the top) etc etc. Especially where these jobs were unable to be filled before. The benefit is to the economy in terms of GDP so don't be so simplistic.

using fact the government won't be in a position to do something approximately it with out leaving the ecu. and of direction, those issues artwork the two tactics. various British human beings (as an occasion) pass to different factors of Europe to stay and artwork each and every twelve months, and are satisfied to have the skill to attain this with out having to fill in countless visa varieties etc. As to eastern Europeans taking jobs, i think of the project lies with the Western Europeans. in case you won't be in a position to get a activity, yet somebody who won't be in a position to even communicate English can, then that announces lots greater approximately you than it does approximately them. Employers will take them on, regardless of not with the flexibility to talk the language, using fact they have traits many unskilled British human beings have not got - specially that they desire to artwork, come approximately to artwork, and artwork difficult. although your factor some Western eu guy or woman working in eastern Europe would not rather carry real - i be responsive to numerous people who artwork in Prague and Sarajevo and don't communicate greater beneficial than a handful of words of the community language (it is fairly disgraceful, the two way).

I would say no. But if only 4000 people have taken part in this poll, then someone has a political interest. Cheap immigrant workers help economy.

not an open door policy, but we need migratnt workers for the economy, which is doing rather well thanjks to these people ie. service industry, so a small number should be allocated to each country according to size. its the illegals that are the problem, they need rounding up with hired police from their country who are fluent and understand these peoples society and rituals, then throw em all out!

No, we should start a registered immigration scheme which is based on ability, education, and what the immigrant can offer us. Are we a country or a sugar daddy..sort it out blair or the tories will be back, follwed by an increase in the nazi bnp party.

We are struggling to pay for our own people without more flooding in. The government tells us we need immigration to fund pensions as the population ages but then we are told there will be a 6% surcharge on next years council tax!! Which is correct ?
If the immigrants are on income support or low paid jobs they are not contributing to the tax revenue.
