I was wondering... listening to the 'Your swett 666' song from HIM. Can anyone tell me what does this refer to, in this song? And what I asked as a main question, unrelated to the song lyrics- Why is 666 considered to be a 'devilish' number?

So 666 is a number associated with pagan sun-worship, which originated in the mysteries of ancient pagan Babylon. In Revelation 666 is associated with the number of the beast (from the sea), the Antichrist, and the harlot church of Mystery Babylon. So just who is Babylon?-

1 Pet 5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

Read what most *any* commentary says about the above verse and who "Babylon" is. There is absolutely no evidence that Peter ever ministered in literal ancient Babylon. However, early Christians used the term "Babylon" as a veiled code word for a particular city, so as to avoid persecution from that pagan power. That city is Rome.

So the evidence presented here makes 666 a link between ancient sun worshipping pagan Babylon and the Papacy of the Roman Catholic Church, which is dominated by pagan practices and solar images, and referred to as Babylon in the book of Revelation. This is just a small part of the evidence that makes this relationship apparent.

Actually, if you look in Revelations, it speaks of the mark of the beast. It says this mark is the number of Man. It also says that you can calculate this number and it equals 666. So 666 is not the number of the devil but the number of man. Remember that this number refers to the anti-christ who is actually a man. After he takes power he is then indwelt by Satan (possessed). If you are still curious as to why people think that 666 is the number of Satan then perhaps you should research some other interesting facts. Like when is the Sabbath? (6PM on Friday to 6PM on Saturday. It was changed by a roman emperor to make it easier for pagans who worshipped the sun god on (cough cough) Sunday to convert to Christianity.) Or when was Christ truely born? (Try February. Decemeber 25 is another holiday for pagans who worshipped the sun god). You will see that many of the basic beliefs Christians have are incorrect or distorted. One of Satans many little tricks. To be more specific, you may want to do more research to find that Daniel says that there is not one but many antichrists. Ezekiel says a day for a year. In Daniel it says the antichrist will have the authority to change religious dates and holidays for 1280 days (hence 1280 years). For 1280 years the pope had the authority to change Christian dates and did so numerous times. Daniel says the antichrist will sit in the house of God and recieve worship. Remember this comes from the man who refused to kneel before anyone except God. Now when people go before the pope they kneel and kiss his hand. That is worship. Also if you were to take each letter on the pope's crown and add it up as a Roman numeral it would add up to 666. Just something to think about. I personal am not sure what to think since there is so much evidence supporting both sides.

cause it's mentioned in the bible in the last chapter of the new testament...REVELATIONS.The Number of the Beast is a concept from the Book of Revelation of the Christian New Testament. The Number is 666 in modern texts, although 616 appears instead in one ancient source.[1] The meaning of the number is debated. Some scholars contend that the number is a code for the Roman Emperor Nero, a view that is supported by the Roman Catholic Church. The Number of the Beast is described in the Book of Revelation 13:18. From the King James translation:

" Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. "

In the Greek manuscripts, the Number is rendered in Greek numerical form as “χξς”,[6] or sometimes literally as “six hundred and sixty-six”,

Interpretations:
One interpretation is that 666 encodes the letters of someone’s name or title, identifying the Antichrist. However, since the reader is free to choose the code, any name or phrase can be matched to the number by finding an appropriate code. The phrase “Vicarius Filii Dei” is an example of this.
To be convincing, interpretations invoke arguments other than mathematics to prove their point. For example, scholars who believe that the Book of Revelation refers to historical people and events argue that the number represents Nero.[10] The value of “Neron Caesar”, written as “נרון קסר”, “Nrwn Qsr”, using Hebrew letters with numerical values under the form of numerology called gematria, is:

The hypothesis that 666 is a code for a Roman emperor seems to have some historical support. The emperors were noted for their oppression of both Jews and early Christians. Both communities were known to use numerology and codes where living under Roman rule to avoid persecution.

Aleister Crowley (1875–1947) claimed that he was the Beast prophesied in the Book of Revelation and took the name “Το Μεγα Τηριον”, Greek for “The Great Beast”, which adds up to 666 by isopsephy, the Greek form of gematria.[11][12]

The Reformed scholar, Kenneth L. Gentry, Jr., affirms that the code identifies Nero. The Beast of Revelation, ISBN 0-915815-41-9. Powder Springs, GA: American Vision, 2002.

Futurist Christian eschatology typically holds that the Mark of the Beast is one way in which the Antichrist will exercise power over the Earth during the period of Tribulation. Exact interpretations of this vary widely. For example:

Keith Krell interprets the mark as a requirement for all commerce to mean that the mark might actually be an object with the function of a credit card.[13]
Steven D. Miller proposes that the mark of the beast may refer to a social security number or card.[14]
Terry Watkins supposes the mark to be a microchip in or barcode on the human body.[15]

Other interpretations
Irenaeus suggested that the number indicates that the beast is the sum of all apostasy committed over the course of six thousand years.[16]
Robert Graves suggested that DCLXVI, 666 in Roman numerals, is an abbreviation for the Latin sentence “Domitianus Caesar Legatos Xti Violenter Interfecit”, or “The Emperor Domitian violently killed the envoys of Christ”.[17]
In Judaism, the number 666 is considered mystical and holy and may represent the physical universe.[18]
The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Beast for which 666 stands is a government.[19]

Culture and psychology
Main article: Number of the Beast (occurrence)
The number 666 retains a peculiar significance in the culture and psychology of Western societies, where some perceive it as “the Devil’s number”, even in contexts usually remote from superstition. The fear of the number 666 is called hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.

I read in the Bible (Revelation, Chapter 13:11-13. I'm not sure if it's the exact, but for sure it's in Revelation...)
There is supposed to be some kind of beast which breaks free after many years which has many eyes, horns, and diadems on the horns. The beast was known as "Satan" or the "Devil" and has a chance to rule for a short amount of time during what seems to be the Apocalypse. The only people awho can buy, sell, or trade are the people who have the name or the number standing for his name on their forehead. You gueseed it. The number standing for his name just happens to be 666.

It's from the book of Revelations (13:17-18):

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Its not the number of Satan LOL. It is in the Bible in the Book Of Revelations of the New Testament. The Beast (antichrist) is supposed to be marked with it, as is any servant of him...... "And he causes all ... to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred three score and six" THATS where it comes from

It is also recorded in the bible that whoever does not believe in Christ will then subject themselves to satan and be stamp 666 on their forehead and be thrown into hell forever.
