Well, I'm afraid its obvious. The Doctor's best companion is the T.A.R.D.I.S without question. It has always been there for him and always will. Simple as.

Now be fair here. I was NEVER a Doctor fan and then my partner made me sit down and watch it when Chris Ecleston was the Doctor and guess what? I was converted and oh the pouting and stomping that went on when he only did the one series.

But actually as far as companions go I would like to go back and watch a few of the old ones before I can make an educated reply on them.

I would not pick Billie Piper though i don't think. I found her rather annoying.

I did like that metal dog K-9 but I don't suppose he counts? Only saw two eppeies with him in it and he sacrificed his life for the Doctor.

It took me about four eppies to accept that David was here to stay and you know what? I enjoy him a lot now and can't wait for the next season to start.

I'm also looking forward to seeing who the new companion will be.

Cheers!

Well mini i think for me it has to be Ace, i like her because she was strong and a bit of a tom boy and didn't run screaming at every turn and getting on your nerves far from running from the Daleks she batters the hell out of it with her charged up baseball bat, did come out with some naff sayings earlier on but towards the end it was great to watch Ace's character grow and i loved the chemistry between Ace and the Doctor as well as Sylvester and Sophie and you could see there was a genuine liking for each other.

Closely followed by Leela who was also a strong female character who didn't run away from everything far from it she usually stuck knives or Janus thorns into em

I'd have to say Sarah and Leela, but also the Brigadier is a favourite character of mine (although I know he's not technically classed as a companion)

K-9, because he was brilliant, and faithful like a dog should be.

And not to be biased towards artificial lifeforms, but honorable mention to Kamelion. He just doesn't get mentioned very often. I know it was only for three episodes, but he did ride in the TARDIS and was a good guy after all.

Sarah Jane Smith, that girl could scream, although Jo was pretty funky.
