One which tones in with the shirt and suit the guy is wearing.
Eg Navy suit, blue shirt, and a bright blue tie, so it looks as if the guy has thought about his appearance. Ties are a guys way of expressing himself, so depending on the situtation, maybe a a patterned tie, blues, greys. Black tie, white shirt, very official and smart for formal occasions..... just avoid the joke ties!

The most impressive tie color? Depends on the event. Job interview at a law firm. Differently Solid color, but impressive if trying to impress on a date would be spunky like maybe black with white and red stripes, it really all depends on the outfit. I am a huge fan of black blazers with metalic colored ties.

depends on a lot of factors
* age of the person
* with/without a blazer
* color of dress shirt
* occasion
* appearance of the individual
for someone like me (18, male) going to a wedding, the best tie i have that compliments my black suit is a mostly white tie with a few diagonal black stripes.
generally you want something that compliments the dress shirt. wearing the same color is NOT a good idea. burgundy/red is good with white, so is black.

Well, It depends on where you go. Impressive for a meeting or interview..I would say either yellow or red. And the yellow has to be a mellow yellow. And the red, a bold one. Good luck with impressing whoever it is you want to impress...

if u have a plain coloured shirt, u can brighten it up by getting a bright coloured tie. careful not to choose one too clownish for the office tho!
