Not many scripts are written with black people in mind, and the black actors that exist, with few exceptions, make their livings by playing roles that play on black stereotypes. There aren't many of these movies to go around, and you don't exactly build a range of credentials by being in them.

Seriously, you just can't go drop a Wayans brother or Samuel L Jackson into a comedy set in the suburbs - the movie would have to revolve around them, or their being an oddity.

Additionally, the % of money taken in at the box office is likely much more from white people than black, and the studios cater to their audience.

There are more white people in Hollywood, so obviously there are going to be more white stars.

The same reason there are less white collar workers, or less CEO's of major corporations that are black... for one they represent a smaller portion of our population, and for two the areas where black people are the majority don't have as good of schooling as upperclass white neighborhoods.

Not true. However, the majority of Americans are "White", so it is not surprising to see them all in most places. But there are many Black actros, as well as Asians, Latinos.
