Does anyone know if you can get a mobile signal now in the channel tunnel or is it just one of the providers that do it like Orange?

Its strictly a matter of safety & security not to have mobile phone transmission in the channel tunnel. Mobile phone technology used in Europe is GSM(Global System for Mobile communications) .This technology in terms of security & safety may interfere with the signal transmission operated by the channel tunnel authorities.

I am sure that all mobile providers will be told to not transmit at such transit points. Its in the welfare of the passengers.

This is an EMI / EMC question. Proper separation and shielding of the channel tunnel is a must, as per International Certification Standards. There should be NO mobile signal in the channel tunnel. Service Providers are supposed to ensure.
