To further my dilema, it's in a recording studio situation and the girls are the main people in the band. It seems to be socially acceptable as a common term like "what's up people/everyone". Any suggestions on possible alternatives. Would any of you take offense to this?

Sure "you guys" is acceptable when talking to a group of women, or y'all. May not be proper grammar but I think it's acceptable.

'Course it is!

Let me tell you this, I’ve never hesitated calling a bunch of girls in college, ‘hey guys – want to join us for a movie?! ‘

At my workplace too, I’ve often addressed my female colleagues as ‘hey guys’, without raising any eyebrows. Yet, on other occasions I may also address them as ‘Hello ladies….’

Come on…. its an acceptable norm and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. In my case the girls didn’t ever mind it at all. In fact they quite liked being addressed ‘guys’ – made them sound more like buddies….I guess.

I'm a 17 yr old female and where I live, everybody says 'guys'. Hell, I do it when I walk into a group of females, I call them guys! Its not offensive!

I don't take any offense to it. I've even fallen in the habbit of saying that to my friends, who are mostly women. You could call them gang, crew, team, or address them as everyone.

I'm sure that would be fine but maybe you could refer to them as Band, musicians, artists etc....
