You have to convert it to the MP4 format. Apple sells the software for that conversion, but ythere are other softwares:

If you wanna use Videora then install the software and add the videos you wanna convert. Once converted, open iTunes and add the converted files into iTunes and sync them to your iPod.

Alternately, you can download InterVideo's iVideoToGo for iPod which copies DVD's, VCD's and converts digital files on your computer to play on the iPod.

Copying DVD's will use lots of processing power so better to leave the machine unattended if you want the process to complete fast, on an average it takes around 1-2 hours to copy and convert 1 DVD depending upon the length of the movie.

From personal experience, I feel InterVideo's software is easier to use with better compatibility as files converted through Videora sometimes don't play on the iPod.

Hope this helps...

You can use the software 3GP_converter. You can search the software through google and download its very small file comes to 3 or 4 mb thats all. The software does the things you want straightaway. Its a software made in some far corner of asia but it does the trick. All u need to do is download the zip file and unzip into a new folder after which go to setup and set the conerter to "mp4 for ipod" after this go to the 3GP converter.exe and open it a box will appear select the bit rate u wanna convert to and just drag and drope the file into the the space. Thats it. Its done. IMPORTANT: The greater the bit rate the greater the use of battery and the lesser the life of ipod and the lesser the bit rate the lesser the quality thats it.

You see this search box on top where it says "Search for Questions"? Well, use it because I know that I personally have answered that question like 30 times now.
