on another note, though, incest can be thought wrong, and, thus, made illegal, because it can bring unfair power to the bargaining table that is sex. if a father wants to have sex with his minor daughter (another crime, by itself), he's in a very good position to do so - he has a great deal of power over her (she often lives with him, depends upon him for food, and may fear the stigma of shame, if she tells anyone about the activity, should it be undesired by her)... all in all, it's a complex ethical question.

incest is having sexual relations with close family members. as to why it's illegal... it flies in the face of many cultures' moralities. other cultures, however - the egyptians spring to mind - practiced it, though (possibly only among the royalty, a social status in which incest has been, generally, more acceptable). even in the US, some states allow the marrying of first cousins, and others outlaw it. if practised too long, within too small a group, incest does tend to heighten the chance of birth defects among the children of close (brother/sister, mother/son, and father/daughter) incestuous pairings.

Because the judeo-xtian religion is sexually repressive.
True, it can lead to deformities known as "inbreeding", but if birth control is used it's not a problem. In ancient Pagan times it wasn't uncommon for the father to take his daughter's virginity. King Tut was married to his own half sister, as were many ancient Pagan kings. Even today in Islamic countries it's desirable to marry one's first cousin, which would be considered incest in all Western countries.
We of the Wiccan faith have no problem with two adults who mutually wish to enagage in incest.

okay LOL incest is basically having sex and things like that with your family.. like brother sister.. cousin.. um it's wrong... like morally & ethically... and it can also cause a lot of problems if the two people involved decide to have a family and create a baby.. cuz its most likely that the baby willl end up messed up...

Because there is a great risk of birth defects.
Biological harm to children if you are having children.Infertility also is another reason.It is wrong to have sex with your brother or sister as it is the same blood group which causes physical psychological and emotional problems among children if you have.The child will also dies in some cases which are my personal expeiriences.
