I want to surprise my Filipina co-worker by greeking her in Tagalog. What do I say? I want to be friends with her nothing more, seeing if that leads to anything. I know kamusta means how are you, but what are other words I can use? At work I don't want to not communicate with her. I want to see what she does when I use her own language. Oh, I am not a Filipino. I want to respect her.

start with...

Puwede ba tayong lumabas mamaya pagkatapos ng trabaho natin dito? - translation: Can we go out after office work?

also:

Puwede ba kitang maihatid sa tinutuluyan mo? - translation: can i accompany you home?

Maaari ba kitang maanyayahan kumain sa labas? - translation: can i invite you out for dinner/lunch?

(actually, sometimes trying to impress a filipina lady by surprising her with such efforts need not be. usually, filipina ladies gets the hint the moment someone shows an interest to them. also, it's much better if you act as normal as you could. show genuine respect and she'll respond accordingly. further, wouldn't it be better if you ask her to teach you the language? if she ask why, tell her your intentions sincerely that you like her and want to know her better. and you'd love to learn the language too. at least you're honest, that's the best trait you can show her).
