A don't be ashamed of your singing. As one of my music teachers tought me everyone can sing they just have to dare
B Learn to sing in key it helps if you have friend to provide a key for you on an instrument
C Learn to hold a tone by singing aaaaaaaa, if you can't do this get help
D put feeling in the song. Listen to a song and try to get the feeling the singer is putting in it and try to transfer that to your singing. This isn't easy as it requires a good deal of empathy
E learn to sing with your abdomen. breathe in through your nose tighten your abs and push the air out through the pressure in your gut. you'll be able to sing much louder and lower than usual.

Honey works well. Avoid screaming and dairy!!! Avoid Acidic foods like lemons and oranges. Also certain flavourants and colourants can affect your voice. Definitely stay away from those cordial juices that you dilute with water. Dont strain your voice either. When you have a cold talk less and dont sing!

Try improving your posture to and breathe using your chest, not your stomach. Concentrate on projecting your voice over distance. Dont shout or scream though.

chocolate and peanut butter can help sooth an irritated voice.

Also go easy on medications. Not too many halls or lozenges!

if you're talking about singing, a good posture is needed so you can take good breaths through the diaphram and stomach area so u can project ur voice outward, if u breathe with ur lungs ur not using stomach muscles and ur voice will be airy. Everybody has their own ranges, so stick with yours don't be stuck on a falsetto or a range that isn't yours. And yes, keep practicing because the more you practice the more clear ur voice will become.

Speak into a tape recorder and play it back. Notice what is horrible that you want to change and repeat from top until satisfied.

Alternatively, you could get voice lessons.

listen to yourself speak, listen to other people speak. take note of how they speak and the changes that you can make. you might want to take a public speaking class. they will give you lots of hints. if its a foreign accent that you want to change, a local community college may have accent reduction classes. also, don't smoke or you voice will sound raspy.
