I believe that when you die you decompose and everything that was a part of you becomes a part of the earth which in turn becomes a part of other living/non-living objects. As far as your "soul", I feel that is your electrical force and it disipates into the earth and gets absorbed into it. Ultimately you become a part of everything that made you. The cycle of life continues. That is my concept of the "after-life."

Nothing used to scare me more, when I was around 6 years old contemplating that life after death might not exist. The nothingness of it, the void - but having had 22 years to further contemplate it, all I can say is that whatever happens, you needn't worry. Just focus on life, live it - and expect no afterlife. Even if there is an afterlife, going into with no expectations means it can't possibly disappoint either. Even hell would be a bonus (I would get mediaeval on some folks I'd meet there and make friends with Titans, haha)

I used to think very much along the same lines as yourself.
Then, once I had a conclusion that enabled me to rest easy, I stopped thinking about death all the time and decided that I'd better make the best of life, living and experiencing love...

Well I think that you die and go to hell or heaven or limbo or purgatory. But I also think that you get reincarnated, because all those millions of Buddhists can't all be wrong. So somewhere there is a truth that encompasses both phenomena and I daresay your scenario as well.

I believe that when you die your body goes back to the earth from which it came. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. I do, however, believe that the minute you die, your soul is immediately taken to heaven to be with other believers. If you are a non-believer, I think you go to a place called purgatory, awaiting to be judged by our God.

J'ever wonder what happens to your fingernail clippings once they're detatched from your body? That's what happens to your body once you die.

"Fear not! Death is when the soul leaves your body"

A.Einstein said ''The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there's no risk of accident for someone who's dead.''

So, I feel safe..
