You don't wake up every mornining or in the middle of the night hearing gun shots, explosions, car bombs, alarms going off in U.S cities, YET, you all fail to thank god, and your politicians making this possible for you.

First off I'm from N.Y. so I wake up to gun shots most often, second I count all my blessings from god and have time to say thanks. Third 2/3 of my family are active military members in the great usa, I wouldn't wont to say anything more than I am thankfull for what they do, or I may be paitronizing them by telling every one how they should feel because They joined A Voulntier Military!!!

With U.S. service men and women dying everyday in foreign wars initiated by the Bush administration, I don't think you can realistically say that America is at peace. Also, perhaps you have never visited large U.S. cities where crime is rampant. If you do, you might just wake up to the sound of gunshots, explosions, alarms, etc. Part of the reason for that situation is because Bush and his cronies are squarely on the side of the NRA and the powerful gun lobby, so they won't pass the laws necessary to make the streets of America's cities safe from gun violence.

do you live in a city? I hear gunshots all the time. We live in a more peaceful place than others but there are still a bunch of people ruining it. Take for example in new orleans when the hurricane that should have wipe all of them out didn't. There were people trying to help the ****** and many of them were shooting and looting so get your facts strait.

All countries of the world are like this, USA is not an exception.USA is only exception in sending troops outside the country for a reason and without a reason to kill and die .. A lot of Americans die everyday because of the wrong policy.

I am part of the luckiest generation; never a draft during my age, able to [mostly] defend this country from foreign attack by mere technology, money & such (meaning not needing to mobilize the masses in hand-to-hand combat)...
My complaint is that we continue to sacrifice soldiers where it seems harsh bombing from the sky would be moral -- it's moral to preserve your side at heavy expense to the enemy, not the other way around.

One of the most important freedoms is that of free speech. It allows all of us to ***** and moan about everything from the smallest slight to the greatest crime. However, complaining does not mean that people do not appreciate their freedoms.

I agree. Its really something. Israelis wake up every morning, go to work, and go about their lives, realizing that the threat of a suicidal maniac in a restaurant is quite plausible. We should all aspire to have that kind of resilience.
-- added note: furthermore, it is really telling that someone rated this response down.

Personally I am grateful that we have not had any major attacks since 9/11 and I think they are doing the best they can. He is only one man.
