Your appendix is a finger-shaped pouch that projects out from your colon on the lower right side of your abdomen. The small structure has no known purpose, but that doesn't mean it can't cause problems. Appendicitis is a condition in which the appendix becomes inflamed and filled with pus.

The main symptom of appendicitis is pain that typically begins around the navel and then shifts to the lower right abdomen. The pain of appendicitis usually increases over a period of six to 12 hours, and eventually may become very severe.

Anyone can develop appendicitis, but it most often strikes people between the ages of 10 and 30. Appendicitis is one of the most common reasons for emergency abdominal surgery in children.

The standard treatment for appendicitis is surgical removal of the appendix. In many cases the surgery is straightforward, and you recover quickly. But if your appendix has ruptured, the surgery may be more complicated and you'll take longer to heal. A ruptured appendix that's not promptly treated can lead to serious complications such as infection. In rare instances appendicitis that results in a ruptured appendix can be fatal.

the appendix has no bodily function. according to research, it was used by man's body when the human race still ate raw meat. it was used to kill the bacteria in the meat - we kill it now as we cook the meat.

we usually remove the appendix these days as it can gather some of the bacteria it cant kill (it became lazy over the years) and thus causing infection. if it swells up and bursts, those bacteria are circulated in the abdomen, then bloodstream and the cause bactericaemia.

I think it screens out piffy policy makers and petty promo
proselytizers from infiltrating on a systemic level of the human physique ...perhaps, teehee. No all kidding aside they claim it is
an obsolete left over from prehistoric times perhaps so now the only function is to get infected and give the surgeon an easy job
in order to pays his high med insurance bills

Some say it's for the building of white blood cells which help the body rid it of viruses and bacterias. Some others say it's an absolute useless organ. It's about even as far as opinions go. You could look in up on Google or some other search engine.
Good luck

the question of the function of the verfiform appendix is still up in the air, but most people seem to think that it's vestigial. (a remnant of what it used to be since the evolution of our physiology rendered its initial purpose obsolete.)

so as to function, all i really know is it tends to get inflammed and has to come out.

It's a turbo charged small stomach. The appendix was created to digest substances the larger stomach cannot, such as seeds. If you swallow a watermelon seed it goes in your appendix, and is digested there.

there is no function. this is the only organ that we have that is totally useless. i understand it's a remnant from when we were monkeys and it was kind of like a second stomache or something.

No function at all. There are many theories on what it used to do.

Good luck!

To help digest grass and tough leaves. Humans don't actually use it, that is why it is so small and why we can survive well without it.
