But I am able to visualize the inner working of a cell, I can "see" synapses working, I can see protein pumps working with protons in order to create ATP. But I just cant do the same with Math. I am a biologist, junior year in college. I think it may be because I was never brought up on actually visualizing and using a number line. What do you think?

Because Math sucks and science rules! I'm the same way...I have a photographic memory when it comes to biological processes for some reason.

My guess is that we should not the same part of brain to do different things, especially when that part of the brain is already well trained in one of them. I am ok with visualizing maths concepts, but still find it very difficult on musiz and other artistics fields.

I think visualizing cells and mathematical objects are quite different. Cells are physical entities that follows physical, chemical and biological rules that are quite similar to those that we as a living human experience. However, mathematical objects are in another world, the world of mathematics. They follows mathematical rules that may not have the equivalent in the physical universe.

Been there and I am there and still doin' it!

Think you have the right idea---visualization is a great mathematical tool. I am very kinesthetic and cannot see the math in the same way I do science. And we yet need both to succeed. Practice makes perfect they say--and I dislike the practice too-- I best wise up. Good Luck! A good math study partner helps!!!!!!

practice man, practice :)

and after you have practiced enough, it will so click in place.
