First, a baby does not need teeth in order to eat solid foods. Their gums are very hard and can crush up many things. Remember that your molars do most of the chewing anyway (not the front teeth), and most babies don't get those until closer to a year. My daughters didn't get their first teeth until 9 months, and they did just fine with several different foods.

That being said, are you talking about the Gerber fruit/veggie puffs? Those (along with Cheerios) dissolve pretty easily in the child's mouth, so they don't really need to be chewed anyway. They're designed to be a first finger food, so when your child figures out the pincer grasp around 8 months or so is the best time to start really offering those as a food he can feed himself. You can certainly try them now as a snack, but you'll have to put one in his mouth and see how he handles it. If he does well, you can offer more.

Also, it's normal for babies to gag a bit when they're first starting on solid foods. So if he gags a little occasionally, it's not a cause for panic. If he starts to gag and choke every time you give him something, he may need to wait a little longer.

Hope that helps!

Those are meant for picking up to practice the pincer grasp, after about 8 or 9 months depending on your baby's readiness.

I would skip the fruit and veggie puffs except as a special treat, though, they're so full of sugar!

We started cheerios at 6 months and the kids just salived them until they were moosh and then swallowed. They really had a great time practicing hand eye coordination and the two finger manipulation of getting them in their mouths. I am sure that what you are talking about are similar in make up as cheerios.

As long as he can pick them up himself you should be fine.If you are concerned buy the bigger wheel puff snacks because they won't break apart in his mouth until soggy enough and the are easier for a baby to hold.Congrats on the new baby!!!

My son is also 6 months old I give them to him but I use a feeder bag..It is this mesh bag with a handle on the end of it. he chews away at them and I dont have to worry about him choking on it. I found mine a walmart but i know that target and babies r us have them also it was around 5 dollars.

when he can safely pick up small food on his own and eat it. Right around the same time you start giving the stage 3 baby food. but to make such his lil belly can take it i would ask his doctor first.

Cheerios are the best for finger and snack foods. The get mushy and won't choke him. Plus they are so good, my children loved them and it was a great thing to keep in my bag.

12-16 months is a good time to start with those unless you soak them in like milk or apple sauce and turn them into like a cereal

Feed him breast milk only till he has teeth. That has the best nutrition as long as you eat plenty of "small" fish. Do wat makes sense for his teeth to handle. Nature has got it all figured out. Imagine yourself with no teeth trying to eat those without choking.
