Wow, Wang is actually a really solid candidate. However, the CY young award is not like the MVP award....it is entirely based on statistics; thus, my candidates are:

AL:
1) Roy Halladay (shaky last two starts, but his SO:BB ratio is amazing!
2) Johan Santana (best post all-star record. If Lariano had stayed healthy, he would have been Santana's main competition)
*Verlander has dropped out as I expected, his arm is too young to last an entire 162 game season. Curt Schilling's ERA is taking a toll in August (as are the Red Sox). My other strong candidate was Mike Mussina who has the most quality starts out of any ace...however, his place on the DL will hurt his chances. And Wang may have wins, but his ERA is a okay and he doesn't; have a good SO:BB ratio.

NL:
1) John Smoltz (Low ERA, SO:BB ratio high, low WHIP...hottest pitcher in NL)
2) Brendan Webb
*Ok, before you all kill me for not picking my man Zambrano, let me explain! He gets the wins, and the strikeouts...but his WHIP is at a 1.28 and he has a horrid 1.87 SO:BB ratio. He is great on my head to head fantasy team....but his stats don't add up to a C Y Young yet....if he can keep the walks down for the rest of the year, then he may have a shot. But I like Smoltz and Webb better for their current stats. Carpenter is one of my favorites, but I see him as either a 8.0 inning, 0.00 ERA, 10 SO kind of guy or a 4.1 inning, 6.00 ERA, 2 SO player....too inconsistent this year (also on my fantasy team)

Wang is a good option, but it would be kinda hard for a yankee pitcher to get the award. ("even i could get 10 wins with the yankee lineup" is probably not an uncommon expression")

AL: Santana would almost be a lock, Halliday is an option, What about Garland? Where would the White Sox be without him?

NL: Smoltz has been good all year, just the braves have not, Webb has been good, but not great, Zambrano is getting a lot of love..

What about some pitchers who actually might get into the postseason?

Carpenter, Josh Johnson (these two have similar numbers)

At the beginning of the year, my buddies and I wrote down all our predictions in baseball. I took Roy Oswalt for NL Cy Young and Roy Halladay for AL Cy Young. But as the seasons gone on, it's obvious that Oswalt won't win. Halladay and Santana are the only ones I think that have a chance in the AL. Which leaves me choosing two NL guys. Josh Johnson FLA and Chris Carpenter STL.

i'm uncertain concerning to the AL, yet interior the NL, I additionally desire to work out Wainwright win the Cy youthful. he's had a almost suited checklist at abode, an era of a million.ninety 4, and not purely is he able to throwing shutouts, yet he can pitch 8 innings or greater, whilst nonetheless amazing out batters and retaining there score. Hes been a relentless, dominant pitcher this entire twelve months, and an ace to the Cardinals rotation.
