If they have to hire someone to clean your yard and you agreed to keep it up, they will bill you for the clean up.If you do not pay they can evict you for breach of contract.
The city where you live must be on them to clean up the property. They own the house , you don't. They are the ones who the city would contact to demand them to see that the lot is cleaned,. The city will clean it up or condemn it if they don't. \
If it is growed up and limbs in the yard ,, it must be ugly.
I would n't worry about the weed eating, but do mow and clean up the yard at least once a week. It is the right thing to do if you said you would. It sounds like they are letting you know they are watching and making sure you are taking care of THEIR house. It is funny huh? You live there and pay rent each month, sign a lease for x amount of months you will live there, and still they hold all the rights and you have the right to pay them.

Does your lease say that you are responsible for doing this? If so, then you are obligated to do it.
They could give you a notice and possibly even evict you for not complying with the terms of your lease. Or they could pay someone to do the work and add the cost on to your rent next month. Or take it out of your deposit. It all depends on the law and your lease.
If it doesn't say you are responsible for it, then tell them to get over there and do the work.

As long as you arent sharing the yard with any other tenants it is your responisbility... it is on your rented property...
Unless when you signed the lease for your place it specified that the landlord provide some kind of grounds maintence... this is your job...

whenever anyone has a contract such as a lease, there also should
be certain other things listed on the agreement. At least I would l hope so. I am sure there are organizations that offer information on tenants rights. Its stiill thier property not yours if you catch my drift. I would remind them that you rent and they own, Good Luck

Your rights should be noted in a lease agreement. Otherwise, they can tell you when you should clean the yard.

basically they can decide whether or not you stay there. when your contract expires, if they don't like the way you behaved, they can throw you out. you have the right to stay there till the contract expires but when it does, if you haven't behaved the way they wanted you to, you might not be able to stay there anymore.

Is yard maintenance in your rental agreement? If so, then you need to do it.
