Quite a lot. That year was somehow a signficant one... The golden age of the youth's revolution ended then, which is the most important, I suppose.

Also, there were many important political and scientifical events, such as the Moon landing, perhaps the greatest achievment of humanity so far.

1969 seems to be a halcyon year, a lot happened.

Man on the moon
Riots in Paris
Velvet uprising in Czechoslavakia
Assasinations of R Kennedy and M Luther King.

RFK & MLK were assassinated in 1968, not 1969. Nixon took office in 1969.

Nothing much the Hippie movement was in full swing with it's slogan of make love not war. Drugs were all over the place, even in the schools. Religious Cults were just forming mostly with East Indian philosophy tired to them. The Vietnam War was raging and man landed on the moon and walked on it.

Woodstock, Zip to Zap, Sen. Edward Kennedy had a strange accident, men landed on the moon, Nixon took office, I lmoved away from the USA. It was a wonderful year!
