Stay in school, go to university, and stay away from the easy majors. Try engineering or something with a stable starting wage.

Study Family Resources or Family Studies and Human Development. If you are a family oriented person then you will loooove this major. It's mine and I couldn't be happier. It covers things as early as the fetus, and spans all the way to geriatrics, talks about Piaget, Vygotsky theories, marriage, counseling, home economics, disabilities, on and on. However, this is if you are family oriented.
If you were talking more along the lines of financial peace for your family, then I would take the time to check out the big ones like getting a PhD, or becoming a lawyer, or even a pharmacist. But the key is to do something that you will really enjoy regardless of money made.

I have read the answers and feel the advice about paying cash for everything is nonsense and in the end could hurt you.
One of the best investments today is the purchase of a home. Imagine that you wait until you could pay cash for it? By the time you could do it, it would have increased hundereds of thousands of dollars for the average person.
Instead have a good downpayment and get a low interest rate. But that is only a response to what somone had written.
My advice is to put money away, but first you have to make money. I would sell insurance. I do not sell insurance but know that it is something that everybody needs.
And I would begin to find out what networking is and begin doing it asap. Eventually having a strong network could only help you with connections to future job leads and opportunities.

You know what? none of us have that answer, only you have the answer. What do you see yourself doing? Working with children? Fixing things or fixing problems, designing new projects, working in a clinical setting, working in a business as an executive? There are so many things out there. No road, no matter which you take, in order to be the best in all things, you are going to have to fight for it. Do something that makes you happy to go to work, then on payday makes you even happier. Find something that is high in demand, that the world needs....Career advisors are available for people like you. Plz go and consult with one of them, you will be happy you did

Do what makes you happy. Yeah, sounds lame, but if you are unhappy, that will be evident to those around you and if they truly care, they will be empathetic.
If it is money that you think will be good for you, get your degree. If you need a job right out of school, engineering is a good bet. If you want a longer term commitement, law school or med school.
If you don't care about money, follow the path that you feel will be most rewarding.

Strive for something that you enjoy doing; after all, you will be doing it day in and day out. Make sure what you choose has opportunies and enough pay to support your lifestyle. Make sure what you choose something that is attainable.
