It is contradictory for the women ! One side they would like to be interesting, sexy, good looking, so that they do get attention, but other side if a guy looks, comments good, they will act like they do not like. In other words, women with their changing moods and sensitive attitudes needs to stay cool with makeups, cloths etc. in order to keep the surface stable. Men doesn't need that.

Its a sexual based society that exploits the women's physical attributes. Sex sells and more men buy into that than women do and therefore there are more men oriented things out there than there are for women.

Aslan Reborn, it is the male peacock who has the attractive plummage. The female is dull and brown. The same goes for most species of bird. Humans are not birds they are not really comparable.
