Because maybe they have uncontrollable impulses.
Or
Because maybe they zone out when your talking to them and they think about what they're going to say next before you finish.

Thats me, I don't want to lose my thought so basically we don't care what you have to say, we want to get our point across loud and clear. Makes for good lawyers.

In most cases I've found the ppl arguing against me have pre-conceived ideas they want to promote. They really aren't prepared to put out any effort to learn, or hear, my point. They may even know what I'm going to talk about, but they have no idea what I'm going to say, and in truth, they don't care.

Most people are too busy formulating a snappy, intelligent answer in the conversation so they don't listen. That's why shrinks are so rich.

We assume we know what you're going to say and we have a ready rebuttal - if we really listened, then we would have to stop and take time to really think - and we might not have a rebuttal, but an agreeance - and if it is not our nature to agree, then where would we be? And to really listen, would mean I care about what you are saying, when in fact most of us really do not care about what anyone else says, we only care about what we want to say or be heard over.

they think that they know it all so your opinion doesnt matter anyway. they think that they are right so why wait time when they know that you are wrong.

that's how people (especially americans) are conditioned to think. it's a good way to prevent people from actually thinking and coming to rational conclusion through discourse. if people actually discussed things rationally, and thought about things without being governed by their own opinions and misconceptions, it would be way harder to control the masses.
