my baby is 3 months old and i think has started teething. She has been fussy and is not a fussy baby until she gets hungry. She has had a low fever for the last few days and has been sticking her fingers in her mouth to suck on them. also there has been LOTS of drool :) im constantly cleaning her mouth :) anyway just wondering howlong it actually takes for the tooth to show up?

i forgot to say the actual reason why i think she IS teething. the only thing that stops her from crying is a refrigerated teether. So im pretty sure she is teething.

Like people have said, anywhere from a few days to a few months.
Just get used to wiping the drool, because it doesn't stop. . .not for months.
Some babies really like the teething rings that go in the fridge; my son wasn't fond of them that young but he likes them now. We found that Orajel helped, and an occasional dose of infant Tylenol, mainly at night.

This happened with my daughter when she turned 3 months also, but she was not teething. She is now 6 months and doing some of the same things again but you can really sense her discomfort now. Some babies do get teeth at three months, but most likely this problem will subside soon and pick back up after a few weeks or months.

Your baby is still to young to get teeth. Usually around 6 months is when a baby starts to have teeth come in. My son had two teeth at 6 months. My daughter is 7 months and hasn't gotten a tooth yet. Dentist say that the longer it takes for teeth to come in, the better the teeth are. So don't be in a hurry for your baby to get teeth.

could take a while yet .. maybe even a month or so. Drooling isnt always a sign of teething, all babies start drooling a lot around 3 months, its when their salive glands start maturing and becoming more active.
Editing to respond to tracy's post below.. My first daughter got her teeth at 4 months of age.. its not too soon, it can and does happen. she is 6 now and her teeth are fine, never a cavity. I asker her pediatric dentist personally about the whole "if they get them early, they are less healthy" theory and he told me that that is not true.

It depends. Sometimes the tooth will start to break thru and then recede. Mine started that at about the same age and didn't get them until she was 5mo. Ask you ped doc about mixing liquid Benadryl and Mylanta, the heartburn liquid medicine. Teaspoon of each in a bowl and mix rub some on her gums. It's cheaper then orajel and it lasts longer. The benadryl relieves the swelling and the Mylanta makes her gums numb. Its something my ped doc recommended and it works.

Could be days, could be weeks or it could even be months...
my son started showing signs of teething when he was 2 months old (early teether) and his first teeth appeared on the bottom by the middle of his 3rd month.

It varies depending on the child. It could be a week, a month or even a little longer. Sorry.
