I used to love the Simpsons, but agree with most of the people here that it's in its twilight years and beginning to suck. So which episode made you realize it went downhill? (imo: Homer and Burns go to Scotland to find the Loch Ness monster. WTF?)

I don't know exactly when it started to decline, but I lost interest a couple years ago. It's time to close the curtain, and be thankful for the success they had.

I don't think it's declined. I've seen more recent episodes and still laugh at the randomness and little jokes. For example, phrases on signs or stuff in the background. I remember there was one with Homer trying to help a bear get to a safe part of the woods and in the background Larry and Carl were on Bart and Lisa's shoulders fighting with each other. I mean, how random is that? It's hilarious! I think it's still running strong, because it takes current pop culture and plays with it. That's why I think it's still a great show - it hasn't gotten old yet :)
