When North America was settled slavery was common in much of the world. Slavery was most likely introduced in the New World by the Spanish and Portuguese colonists and became useful in those parts of America where the economy was predominately agricultural.

Africans were imported by the Spanish when it was found Native Americans didn't survive particularly well as slaves.

Until the middle of the 19th Century the American South remained adamantly pro-slavery because of the dominance of cotton and the labor intensive nature of growing, harvesting and preparing that crop. When slavery was abolished the industry quickly found ways to mechanize those processes to maintain the viability of that crop.

I have seen many black people who were hard workers. The laziest people I have ever known were white, and--by the way--I am also white.

That sounds like racially laced question. But slavery was brought to USA because the white land owners need people to work.
Plus with cotton, tea, tobacco became big commodity products to trade with other countries.

White people had kids and needed somebody to help take care of em. The Crusades. Making EVERYBODY into kindergarteners again because the truth is never important; only getting to do what you want how you want to do it (crusades); mark of cain self-righteous self appointed 'superpeople' who thought they should make babies but not black people because they 'multiplied like animals'. Conspiracies by the wealthy families black and white to assert their place in society
?????????????????????????????????????????

I think the Dustbowl era lasted a lot longer than most people think it did . . . . . .they needed some good people around to help make the food grow. OR we're supposed to think it's all fake, part of some movies, around since 1700s. . .I dont really know

Because that is when the good old American convenience and laziness craze started.Americans soon realized its allot easier having someone else do all the work while still making a profit.America still uses slaves, just overseas in factory mills and child labor, making more convenience products so Americans can get fatter, lazier and more greedy.
