Don't a lot of countries use nuclear energy? Why in the world is the USA making such a big fuss about it? Toronto, the largest city in Canada, uses tons of nuclear energy, as a matter of fact, nuclear energy is where the majority of the energy comes from. Why is the USA picking on Iran when it's very clear that Israel has nuclear weapons? Iran clearly said that they are not enriching uranium to make nuclear weapons. The press keeps saying that the uranium enrichment potentially "could" become nuclear weapons but Iran isn't turning it into nuclear weapons now are they? What do you think about this? I think Iran is actually using it for nuclear energy. Again this shows how capitalism fails, by exploiting and taking away opportunities from the less fortunate so they themselves could flourish. We arn't giving Iran an opportunity to develop itself. Oh yeah, don't think I'm naive because I am not, I'm just being reasonable.

Anyone with the ability to think realizes that Iran wants a bomb.

Reasonable? I think not.

As you might know the world came to understand that they are trying to enrich uranium only after a dissident Iranian political group revealed that 5 years ago. Then it became known that the project has been 18 years long ( 18+5 = 23 years by now!). One of the main issues is that they were hiding the project all these years and even up to this moment , even during the past 5 years ) the are not willing to answer the key questions made by the Atomic Energy Org.

Now think again please:

Why should a country that :
1 - is openly saying another country must be wipped off the map ( and yet that country has NOTHING to do with its borders, interests, security, ... ).
2 - Its rulers are known to provide money, personnel and logistics for almost all deadly terrorist actions against the US
3 - Has got enough Oil and Gas resources for the next 200 years.

Try hidenly to enrich uranium and is not ready to give it up even agaist economic incentives?

I tell you why.
Khamenei, the so-called supreme leader of Iran, has said to the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards of Iran, that by making the bomb our regime will be insured and secure for another 100 years. He has sited the example of the North Korea.
And I think he is right. When Clinton was trying to explore the hidden sites of Monica Levinsky, he was ignoring North Korea and they made the bomb. I should say in brackets that another US democrat president , Jimmy Carter is most hated in Iran because he was the guy who supported ousting of the Shah and bringing mullahs to the power. Even today he is honourably asking to be the host of Khatami, our previuos .ba.stard president who deceived the West by pretending to be an open-minded mullah and is now in the US to make sure that mullahs' regime will not change.

Every country has the right do do what it thinks is best for it`s people. If nuclear energy is the way foreward for Iran, let them have it. I can`t see Iran developing a nuclear deterrent to be honest. Bush and Blair thought it was a fantastic idea to invade Iraq, on the grounds that saddam was developing weapons of mass destruction and supporting terrorism. These claims have been discredited, but the war goes on. Put yourself in the average Iranians shoes and you would be scared to death of an invasion by western forces without a good reason. Bush is suffering from paranoia in my opinion. The Russians and the Chinese are not worried, why should anyone else be?

Counties that develop and use nuclear power for peaceful purposes don't have the kinds of oil reserves that Iran has. They have no reason to want risky nuclear power when they have all that oil to burn. They want a warhead to annihilate Israel, and if possible the US. This is not some secret they have been keeping, they say it all the time, in public, in their media, in their presidential addresses, everywhere. Only a naive child would believe that they have a peaceful agenda. I just hope they realize that if they nuke Israel or the US (or anyone else for that matter) that there are two or three Ohio class submarines in the Indian Ocean that can and will render their entire country uninhabitable for the next 3000 years in under twenty minutes.

i agree that oil and gas will someday finish but Iran don't need nuclear energy.in this country almost 9 month in the year the sun shines in most parts,so using solar cells would be cheaper and safer.the other substitute energy is wind.why Iran or any other country that can use sun or wind or water, use nuclear energy instead.especially in Iran which Russians are building the nuclear facilities for them.who knows what will happen.if Bushehr blows there will be nothing left to be exported from this part of the world.
the other thing is,who can guaranty that someday Iran will not give one of its bombs to a terrorist group.

Because they are using heavy water reactors, not light water. They are used to create fissile material (for military use). If Iran wanted peaceful nuclear energy, they would join the world in using modern and safe reactors.

Never trust a country that stalls until it gets what it wants. It's a classic move. Use diplomacy as a weapon against your enemy. And before you know it, you have the edge.

Do you trust a regime that wants to wipe anything off a map? What if it was, oh let's say, the USA. Would you trust them now? I wouldn't turn my back for a second. In fact, I'd raise my guard and prepare for a fight.

So if you trust the Iranians so much, give 'em a visit. Walk around waving a flag. Then be treated to hospitality, Iranian style.

I'll agree that they are using it for nuclear energy. Surely they would use nuclear technology to build nuclear plants. But the problem for most people is that they wouldn't stop there, and would make "The Bomb". This leads into the thought that Iran would use it against us, which I feel is unreasonable.

Remember when Pakistan just wanted nuclear energy, they swiftly built a bomb right after. Fortunately the US is on OK grounds with them, hope it doesn't change.

well, if they are not hiding anything then why don't they let the U.N. inspectors inspect their plants? comparing Canada and Iran is like apples and oranges. as far as i know Canada has not made threats against other countries, whereas Iran has. also, Israel needs weapons to defend it itself against countries like Iran.
