Today's political climate is very caustic, but there are a lot of things people of both parties can agree on. I remember meeting Tip O'Neill at a book signing several years ago, and he told me that he used to argue with Republicans by day, and could have a drink with them at night. In other words, you didn't have to agree with the politics, but you could remain friends. Now, it seems too many just want power at any cost and to hell with what the constituents want.

The political parties do agree on a number of things. If a problem is presented and there is only one good answer both sides may see it the same way. In spite of the noise politicians make you have to look at thier voting pattern to see where they agree with the opposition.

I am a conservative and cannot think of one thing that I agree with the Democrats on...honestly...
They are so the opposite of what I consider NORMAL.

Yes they can. The people that would play up party division so they can forward an agenda and forward ideas that dont make sense should be labeled as "unamerican". It would be better to be informed and make decisions based in the best interests of the country.

Yes! they are often referred as the "fence sitters" - just joking! Also as you age your views change too: some people more so than others and some views more dramatic than others.
The young tend to be more idealistic and lefty and the old more righty and cynical. However, there are very large individual differences.

It's not nearly as much about disagreeing with results, it's about disagreeing on how to achieve those results.

I think we can all agree on some issues...
Child molesters are bad...
Osama is bad...
quality education is a good thing...
such and so forth... how to improve on issues... that's where everything goes crazy
