It's a light yellow with a green end, and it is developing stripes. I think it's too big to be gourd. It's a little smaller than a football.

The start was given to me by a friend, who claimed it was a delicata. It doesn't match the seed catalogs photos of a delicata, though. (See burpee.com or parkseed.com)

Hi Lexi, I could not answer without asking, was the plant a volunteer? If you planted the seed, you have an idea what it might be, but if it was a volunteer (that sprang up all by itself from fallen fruit seed from last season) then it can be quite difficult to identify. Plants in that family cross pollinate quite freely and the offspring can carry traits of the parents. They can be incredibly interesting to grow...but may not carry the "yummy" trait of the parents.

It's called a Delicata. It's ready when the stripes turn bright green. It's a nice two-serving squash. I halve them and nuke in the microwave. Mmmmm!

It might be a variety of spaghetti squash. The spaghetti squash we see in the grocery stores are yellow. But there is a variety that is light green striped. We bought 2 spaghetti squash plants from a nursery a couple of years ago, and one was the striped kind. It was delicious.
