With XP System restore is part of your OS, to reach this, shut down your computer. Reboot, holding down the F8 key, scroll to system restore.
If you Wish to reformat, that is where your boot disk comes into play.
Try system restore first.
Then shut down, and reboot.
If your issues are not resolved, look to your reformat disk.

Complete system restore? by the way, you never mention why u want a system restore. but for your information if u just want it because of viruses or some corrupt file i think it wont help...
Using restoration disks is much usefull and i think the most powerful way, be patient with the prompts, they're guides, much more they are the core info of the restore process.

yup just follow what the disks say...if u have pictures or letters u wanna save, I suggest saving them to a floppy or a disk, before u do a restore....BUT if U have windows XP u should be able to go to control panel, and do a restore there without using disks, and u can pick what date u wanna restore your puter too( go to start, then control panel, then performance and maintenance) you will see where it will say system restore. or the disk work well also!!!
