Not recommended... it could cause the baby to have a bowel movement which would be dangerous because it could be toxic to the baby. Drink more water, juices..... anything but laxatives. Dr may even suggest an enema if fluids dont help you.

I took them and it did not harm the baby. The main thing is you do it in three doses and only when the baby is about 9 days late. Here is a link to my birth story:

The main thing is, you don't take the oil alone.

Starting in the evening combine these ingredients (if you are American or British, you'll have to convert these measurements from metric to imperial using an online calculator):

30ml mineral oil
50ml fruit-flavoured schnapps
200 ml natural apricot nectar
Enough whipping cream to make 1/2 liter

At 7 o'clock drink 1/3 of the mixture and take a 20 minute walk.
At 8 o'clock drink 1/3 of the mixture, have a warm bath and try to take a big poop.
At 9 o'clock take 1/3 of the mixture and go to bed.

Contractions will usually start in the night.

Good luck and have a good birth.

I am taking prenatal vitamins with stool softener in them. They work really well. Maybe you should try going that route. Also, my ob approved Citrucel and occasional Milk of Magneisia.

Don't think thats good. I have heard of people giving themselves an enema when they go into labor to help release all their "back up" before delivery so they don't do it on the table while pushing!

Please throw all you laxatives and the temptation away. My dear friend was pregnant with identical twins and she ate the stuff like candy. She ate it to keep from gaining weight, but she starved one of her twins to death. It is still gut wrenching to me, but If I can educate someone on this it helps. PLEASE DONT TAKE it.

no medication, except for what your doctor says is ok...if you are constipated, try fig newtons, or prune juice.
