Try an exercise regiment with high-mass weights and low repetitions: example, 12 repetitions of arm-curls at 22kg. I used to have a routine of increasing the weight by 5 units after 2 weeks, until I found a weight I was comfortable with. Your body will tell you how much is too much: if it hurts, don't lift it!
You should not eat copious amounts of junk food to gain weight.

well, all you have to do is to stop drinking carbonated drinks. Drink plenty of water and eat more fruits and vegetables. No to cakes and pastries, ice cream, chocolate, watermelon, cantaloupe, beef and pork, chicken and spicy food.
Follow this and you will succeed. Voice of experience. Now I lose weight from 75kilos to 63 kilos in 2 months. Good luck :)

Try drinking lots of soy milk if you can stand the taste. It'll beef you up.
