Why is it when people approach a red light they don't just drive up to the line and stop instead of inching up to it stop inch some more and stop and inch some more? Irritating!

I guess because they think that the light is going to change faster by inching up to it.

maybe they are driving too fast and have to ease their way up to the light - or, perhaps the driver behind them is driving too close behind them, so they have to give warning. I intensely dislike drivers who ride right on your tail..it is rude and dangerous - and against the law!

Accelerating from a complete stop is much slower than accelerating with forward momentum, no matter how minimal it is.

Calm down....we are not all perfect drivers. I do that very thing sometimes.
