michael owen will be out for the 2006-2007 season due to injury to his knee...and it really bites because he's an extremely talented striker. i am glad to see that newcastle has got duff and guiseppe, some really good talent, but i don't think they will be at the top just yet. give them a season or two to really get things moving with these guys and hopefully some new ones to come, and i'm sure they will be good. maybe not top of the class, but i think they have potential to be better than what they are now.

It really depends on wat you call top, last year they were 7th, 2 years ago they were 14th... a few years back they were 3rd. I think they have a chance, and Martins should be fit to play for the Magpies on the September 6th match. Owen should be coming back really soon. And Newcastle made the right choice of not selling Milner. Oh, and we have Rossi for a while, so thats a big bonus to us(thanks to Ferguson). So i think we have a chance to get to teh top 5

Nope.
Even a supporter has be realistic about stuff like that.
We have a worldclass keeper in Shay Given, but nobody reliable in defense to help him out.
And we missed out on both Jonathan Woodgate and Robert Huth.

hmm....no, two of those players are injured(Owen & Martins), and duff seems to be past his prime in present form. Portsmouth has a better chance than Newcastle this year.
