Being 3 cm dilated won't get you any contractions sometimes! The best thing you can do is walk walk walk. That puts stress on your innards down there and triggers your uterus to start contracting. But beware, you could go on a long walk and start contracting and it could stop and be false labor! It is all up to your body as to when it wants to get rid of that baby!

It is normal for first children to be between 7 and 14 days late. If happened to me.
You can try a home induction which is much safer than a chemical one. It only works when you are 9 to 12 days overdue.
Starting in the evening combine these ingredients (if you are American or British, you'll have to convert these measurements from metric to imperial using an online calculator):
30ml mineral oil
50ml fruit-flavoured schnapps
200 ml natural apricot nectar
Enough whipping cream to make 1/2 liter
At 7 o'clock drink 1/3 of the mixture and take a 20 minute walk.
At 8 o'clock drink 1/3 of the mixture, have a warm bath and try to take a big poop.
At 9 o'clock take 1/3 of the mixture and go to bed.
Contractions will usually start in the night.
Good luck and have a good birth.

I can understand not wanting to be induced, especially not with pitocin. But do understand that there are alternatives to being induced besides pitocin. I had prostoglandins with both my 2nd and 3rd and they are both quite effective and are not bad like pitocin. Also if you dialate all the way to a 3 on your own you can get your water broke which in most cases also brings on hard labor. Some people just don't go into labor on their own...like me. Having your membranes stripped might also be a good alternative. But seeing that you are 100% effaced I don't see why you wouldn't go into labor on your own before then.

From what my childbirth classification nurse reported, Braxton Hicks contractions are frequently in direction of the ideal portion of the uterus and actual contractions are frequently decrease, closer on your pelvic section. She additionally reported that for many folk, it feels sort of like very solid menstrual cramps, or perhaps like a charlie horse sensation. yet i'm 29 weeks pregnant and it fairly is my first, so i won't be able to communicate from journey.

Walking helps and so does a bath. When I was induced they did not give me any drugs they broke my waters and then the contractions started, so don't be stressed if you have to be induced. Good luck

Unfortunately no one will be able to give a definite answer on this because every woman is different. Sounds to me though like you're ready to go and I'd imagine it would be any day now...probably within the one millisecond when you stop begging for it : )
Hope everything goes well, good luck and Congrats!

I know this is going to sound bad, but try having intercourse. The semen will help your cervix dilate. Just think of it as mother natures cure for being over due. Another great thing to try is going for a long walk, preferably with hills. And congrats!
