I've gotten no response in the Music Player area, so I thought I'd ask the question here.

I've started using my Palm TE as an mp3 player. I'm reasonably content with it, but I need more storage. I've been thinking of a 1gig SD card to replace my 128meg card. That'll cost between $30 - $50, I think, if I shop around.

But I've been wondering if a true mp3 player in that price range wouldn't be a better buy. True, it won't have as much storage, but some come with radios (nice, but not essential) and have other features, such as working more easily with MusicMatch Jukebox, which I like a lot, and functioning as a flash drive (useful) and voice memo device, (not so much).

If I'm otherwise happy with my Te as a music player, does buying a larger SD card make more sense than a dedicated music player? Any thoughts on this?

buying a higher capacity SD card is a better option if you are content with the music that your palm delivers. However a person who would prefer music quality (like me) should rather buy a mp3 instead. The sound quality which players like, iriver, ipod deliver leave you stunned.

I'm happier and definite go with larger SD option myself; if the MP3 player you are looking at eats AAA not rechargeable internal then look to the next one; but in my view an MP3 pen simply can't compare in almost all counts except size.

I think when proper settings (sound volume, shuffle, repeat, etc) set either device options you choose should disappear, so there is less issues on buttons.

Personal I don't like to use a PDA as a MP3 player. The buttons on a PDA are not design to be use without looking. Trying to click the pause button while your PDA is on your belt could be tough.
