Paranormal is an umbrella term used to describe a wide variety of purported anomalous phenomena. According to the Journal of Parapsychology (Parapsychology Association), the term paranormal describes "any phenomenon that in one or more respects exceeds the limits of what is deemed physically possible according to current scientific assumptions." The term is derived from the Latin use of the prefix "para", meaning "against, counter, outside or beyond the norm."

Many see the term paranormal as synonymous with parapsychology, which deals with psychical phenomena like telepathy, ESP, and survival studies like ghosts. However, the paranormal also includes subjects considered to be outside of the scope of parapsychology, including UFOs, cryptozoology, the Bermuda Triangle and many other non-psychical subjects.

I am a normal intelligent 58 year old man who has travelled a bit and have seen and experienced many amazing things. Only once in my life did I witness an event which to this day is unexplainable. In 1973, while fishing 25 miles off the florida coast with four of my friends, we all saw an event which both amazed and frightened us all, and these guys didn't scare easy. The sky was clear and cloudless and there was about a two foot chop all day. About three p.m. a bank of absolutely black clouds came from the ocean horizon, the entire ocean went flat as glass, and a small patch of thick fog appeared about 300 yards east of our boat. This all happened within one minute. The sky was black, but there appeared a very visible object inside the fog.

see the rest below

It was the size of a ten story building, covered with bright lights, just a few colored, and was not a ship. We just stared at this enormous thing for about 45 seconds when it suddenly dissapeared into the small fog bank and within 30 seconds the clouds, the fog, and the object were gone, and we could see for several miles ---nothing. The chop returned to the sea as well. Wierd, huh? rat

I believe I had an out-of-body experience. I was about 9 or 10. I was lying in my bed, late at night and i dont know if i was praying or what, but all of a sudden....i felt myself rise out of my body(just like i was lying there) hover for a moment and turned over...

Now im looking at my body, lying there on the bed.....I didnt know what to do.. I didnt(or couldnt) scream. I dont remember what i did...i just stared at myself.....but then as quickly as it happened....i returned to my body. My heart was racing a millon miles a min. Never happened since. But i'll never forget it. Scared me. As a Christian I've struggled with it, a little...trying to understand what happened to me.

I did.

I had a friend who used to tell me she saw things. Once she was at my house and she, myself and my sister were sitting at the kitchen table.

My friend started to scream and pointed towards the pantry.

There was something standing there looking at us.

It's face and hands were all black and it had on what looked like a white robe.

We all ran.
